Man found guilty of capital murder in death of daughter and her girlfriend

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- A jury has found a Galveston man guilty of capital murder in the death of his daughter and her girlfriend.

James Cosby will automatically be sentenced to life in prison with no parole for the March 2014 murders of his daughter, Britney Cosby, and her girlfriend Crystal Jackson. James Cosby is a convicted sex offender whose past arrests include several assault and weapons charges.

Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson were found murdered behind a grocery store near a dumpster. Investigators said back in 2014 that it appeared Cosby was beaten to death, and her girlfriend was shot.

Family members told abc13 during the investigation that Cosby did not like the fact that his daughter was a lesbian. They said he would often ridicule her for dating women.
