Juror in murder case speaks out
A judge declared a mistrial in the murder of a man accused of killing his mother at a flower shop

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The flower shop murder ended today in a mistrial and some of the jurors are very upset about it.

Mark Dickey was accused of killing his mother, Brenda Dickey, in 2013 at her flower shop in Webster. Dickey shot her in the back of the head while she was opening a safe. He then called police, reporting a robbery in progress.

The prosecution has said Mark stood to gain a lot of insurance money from Brenda's death and that his marriage was on the rocks.

Dickey's lawyer claims the gun was accidentally discharged while mark dickey was trying to unjam it.

A juror told us dickey had given different versions of what happened leading the juror to believe Dickey was lying.

The decision was 11-1 today with 11 jurors in favor of first degree murder, and one juror holding out, saying Dickey should walk free.

The juror we talked to says he, among others, are angry with that last juror and believes justice was stolen today.

The verdict doesn't reflect what happened in our eyes, in our opinion. I wasn't the only one. A lot of us, we will probably struggle with this for the rest of our lives. Like I said, we failed. We have failed," said the juror.

Back in 2013, when police arrived at the scene, they found nothing of value missing from the flower shop and the gun used to kill Brenda was still at the scene.

Prosecutors have said they will retry case.
