'I'm sorry': Michigan governor apologies for Flint water crisis

LANSING, MI (KTRK) -- The governor of Michigan is apologizing to the people of Flint for their water crisis, saying he failed them.

Governor Rick Snyder spoke yesterday at his annual State of the State address.

He said he will deploy more National Guard troops and commit millions in state funding to find a solution to the problem.

"I'm sorry and I will fix it," Snyder says. "No citizen of this great state should endure this kind of catastrophe."

The water in flint is contaminated with lead.

The problem began in 2014 when the state switched the city's water source to save money.

Critics say Governor Snyder's response to the crisis was slow, and they want him to resign.

But so far, he has refused.
