CHICAGO, IL -- The Chicago Fire Department is investigating after a department vehicle was parked in a handicap spot at a North Side grocery store.

According to other shoppers at Trader Joe's, the fire official driving the truck was picking up two bags of groceries at 8:30am Sunday in Lakeview, Illinois.

"The Chicago Fire Department does not conduce parking department vehicles in handicapped spaces in non-emergency situations," CFD spokesperson Larry Langford said. "Based on the picture supplied, there does not appear to be an emergency that would justify such parking."

Langford said an investigation is underway and the department member will be disciplined if warranted.
