Driver with gun brings I-45 North to halt near Conroe

CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- A police standoff following a slow-speed chase with an armed driver brought the North Freeway to a standstill Friday morning. It ended with the driver in custody.

It started at around 10am in the 400 block of Bickett Lane when members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office warrants division were attempting to serve a felony warrant on 38-year-old Scott Michael Inman for sexual assault.

Inman drove by and when he spotted the deputies, fled the scene, driving north on I-45. Deputies gave chase.

According to deputies, during the chase, Inman was waving a pistol and threatening to kill himself.

The slow-speed chase went from Harris to Montgomery County. Deputies used spike strips to stop Inman's pickup near I-45 and FM 1488.

Members of the Montgomery County SWAT team made contact with Inman, who gave up without incident.

I-45 was closed in both directions at FM 1488 for close to two hours while police negotiated with Inman.

Inman was taken into custody and now faces an additional charge of felony evading.
