HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 43-year-old Houston doctor charged with sexually assaulting a patient at Ben Taub General Hospital two years ago has lost his license to practice medicine in the state of Texas.
A disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended the Texas medical license of Shafeeq T. Sheikh, M.D., after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.
Last week Dr. Sheikh was charged with sexual assault. A woman told police that while she was a patient under sedation, she was sexually assaulted in her hospital room at Ben Taub back in 2013. Police say DNA evidence and surveillance video have linked Dr. Sheikh to the assault.
