Hoverboard explodes at Deerbrook Mall

WASHINGTON, TN -- According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, no hoverboards currently on the market are safe.

The CPSC sent a letter to manufacturers and retailers warning them that all of the devices are defective; more directly they are calling for them to voluntarily take hoverboards off the market until they can be certified as safe by the UL, the independent testing firm used by U.S. electronics manufacturers.

Firefighters have been called to Deerbrook Mall after a small fire was reported inside. Several witnesses tell Eyewitness News it was a hoverboard that caught fire.
