Burglars smash into Speedy Cash, get away empty handed

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A group of thieves smashed their way into a payday loan business but got away empty handed.

Around midnight this morning, eyewitnesses called police after seeing a truck pull out from the Speedy Cash location on Harrisburg in east Houston.

Officers arrived and began chasing the pickup truck for several blocks. The driver then pulled over on the 6900 block of Avenue I and several people bailed out. All of the suspects got away on foot.

Police say the thieves managed to break into an ATM at the business, but there was not any money inside the machine.
