Burglars smash hole into convenience store, steal cash

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Thieves smashed a hole into the back of a convenience store and got away with an unknown amount of cash.

It happened around 2:15am at the Chevron gas station located in the 1620 block of Collingsworth at Elysian.

Officers got a call of a burglary in progress and found the hole in the back of the building when they arrived. The owner of the store says the thieves did get some cash, but they were not able to get into the safe located in the store's office.

There is surveillance video of the crime. Police are now reviewing it to see if they can identify the burglars.
