PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- There's a major new development in a tragic case out of Pearland. The mother of twin toddlers who drowned in a bathtub in February now facing charges over the deaths.
The arrest of Barbara Ramirez-Sifuentes, who also goes by Barbara Russo, comes nearly three months after her 15-month-old girls were found unresponsive in a bathtub at the family's home in Pearland.
Ramirez-Sifuentes was arrested Sunday on two counts of manslaughter. She's now in the Brazoria County Jail.
This, after her 15-month-old twin girls, Sabrina and Savannah, were found unresponsive in a bathtub in their home in February.
One girl died that day. The other passed away five days later. The twins' deaths were ruled homicides in March.
The Brazoria County grand jury handed down their indictments against Ramirez-Sifuentes on Thursday. Sunday morning, an alert was put out for Ramirez-Sifuentes' minivan.
Then early Sunday afternoon, the Harris County Toll Road Authority caught the van on their cameras driving east along the Sam Houston Tollway. They alerted deputy constables, who were able to track down the minivan and arrest Ramirez-Sifuentes.
Ramirez-Sifuentes' bonds total $100,000 for the two charges of manslaughter.
