21-year-old charged with murder after shooting death in SE Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 21-year-old man is charged with murder in the shooting death of a man in southeast Houston.

Jonathan Trevino is in police custody after the death of 46-year-old Michael Garza.

Investigators say Trevino and Garza were arguing about Garza's granddaughter yesterday at a home in the 1500 block of Lawson when, at some point, Trevino allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Garza. Garza was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garza's wife said she was terrified: "It happened in front of my kids, my boys and my daughter, his own daughter. He could have shot his own daughter. And I was just more worried that he was going to just keep on shooting everybody."

Trevino was arrested at the scene.
