Where to find free NYE rides in Houston
Don't leave home without a plan for getting back safe and sound this New Year's Eve.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you plan to party this New Year's Eve, make sure you plan to have a safe ride home. This year, there's a new way to make you have a designated driver.

The Houston Wave will give you on-and-off shuttle privileges all night, inside the 610 loop and around the Galleria.

"It's great because it's $20 dollars all night, and you don't have to worry about paying each taxi and everyone can ride together," Lauren Barrash, owner of The Houston Wave, explains.

For more information on The Houston Wave's New Year's Eve rides, check their website.

From 6PM New Year's Eve to 6AM New Year's Day, METRO buses and light rail rides are free. Additionally, METRO plans to keep the light rail running until 2AM to accommodate revelers.

And if you use UBER here in Houston, you can now request a ride without leaving the Facebook Messenger App.

"So within the messenger app now you can go to the bottom of the conversation you are having with someone you will see these little icons, you can tap on the square with the circles, tap on transportation and request an UBER," tech expert Jennifer Jolly explains.

Or you can let the lawyers pick up the tab. Houston attorneys Sutliff & Stout represent victims of drunk drivers. They will pay for your cab ride home, up to $30 via paypal. For more information, visit their website.

Don't forget New Year's Eve driving can be dangerous, but also expensive.

"You don't know how much valet is going to be or parking is going to be, and definitely if drinking is involved you shouldn't consider those two," Barrash explains.

So make your resolution this New Year's Eve resolution to have a designated driver.
