HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- What do Larry McMurtry, DJ Screw, and Marvin Zindler have in common?
All three have their archives stored and maintained at the University of Houston Libraries Special Collections.
Zindler's collection came to the University of Houston beginning in 2019.
"We were approached by Mr. Zindler's longtime producer Lori Reingold," said archivist Vince Lee. "She indicated she had many of his materials since his passing."
Lee met with Reingold, as well as members of Zindler's family, and Marvin's papers become part of the school's Houston & Texas History Research Collection.
"We were ecstatic," said Lee. "We came to the conclusion that this would be a perfect fit."
The collections includes scripts, calendars, photographs, video archives, memorabilia, and more.
"His story shows he was a man who was very sensitive about his image, but also used his image to help others," Lee explained. "I think that's a legacy he wants to leave with the community."
The archives also include fun items like a prototype poster for "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" that features Marvin's face, as well as some of his drawings and self-portraits.
The archive isn't displayed, but is available to the public by scheduling an appointment with the UH Libraries Special Collections department.
