Preparations for Freedom Over Texas near downtown are underway and will result in street closures around Eleanor Tinsley Park:
**Parking is available in the Theatre District on Rusk, with access between Bagby and Smith, or at the Hobby Center, which also enters on Rusk. When driving into downtown, you may want to enter Midtown since the Astros and FIFA Fanfest will make the East End exits busy, and you can also park in Midtown or along the rail and take the train into Downtown.

And while America is celebrating its 250th birthday on July 4, Houston is also hosting its last FIFA World Cup match. TxDOT is holding off on major interstate construction closures due to both the holiday and the influx of international soccer fans.
Here's the timeline:

As the gates open for Freedom Over Texas at Eleanor Tinsley Park, ABC13's Bob Slovak talks about the festivities underway.

As America celebrates its 250th birthday, members of the country's Indigenous communities explain what the holiday means for them.
ABC13's Charly Edsitty traveled to her community, the Navajo Nation, and the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota to talk with tribal members about the history of the First Americans and what it means to be Indigenous in 2026.
Charly also shares her own family history and reflects on the legacy of her late grandmother.

Sam Houston Park, located near Eleanor Tinsley Park, has transformed into Futbol Park on July 4 for fans to watch the World Cup match before Freedom Over Texas.
Starting at 4 p.m., patrons can watch the Round of 16 match between France and Paraguay on the stage set up in the park.
