Iran live updates: IRGC says Strait of Hormuz will 'never' revert to pre-war state

President Donald Trump's national security team gathered at the White House Friday evening, according to a senior White House official, following reports that multiple U.S. aircraft were struck by Iranian fire, including a fighter jet that went down in Iran.

Trump has been working in the Oval Office or Oval Office dining room throughout the day Friday receiving updates, the official added.

Trump is set to remain in Washington, D.C., throughout the Easter weekend.

This comes as a search-and-rescue mission is still underway after a U.S. fighter jet was shot down by Iran. A second jet also crashed in the Persian Gulf region Friday.

A U.S. Air Force one-seater A-10 Warthog attack jet also crashed in the Persian Gulf region on Friday, according to a U.S. official.

The pilot aboard was safely rescued, according to a U.S. official.

The aircraft was hit by incoming fire over Iran and crashed in a neighboring allied country, according to another U.S. official.

One crew member aboard the downed fighter jet has been rescued, according to a U.S. official. The aircraft was a two-seater F-15.

The status of the other crew member is unknown, according to the official.
