HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected now through Memorial Day, with street flooding and severe weather possible.
An ABC13 Weather Watch was in place throughout the Wednesday morning commute.
The heavy rain should begin to taper off mid-morning with drier conditions on tap this afternoon.

2 Alvin ISD schools closed due to water damage from overnight storms, district says
Two Alvin ISD schools are closed on Wednesday due to water damage from overnight storms, according to the district.
School officials said both Wilder Elementary and Mary Marek Elementary sustained "significant damage."
"We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue and ensure the campus is safe for students and staff," the district said in a statement.
Alvin ISD said it would resume classes on Thursday.
