HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An ABC13 Weather Alert Day was in effect on Wednesday as strong-to-severe thunderstorms rolled through southeast Texas.

A Tornado Watch was issued for several parts of southeast Texas, including Harris, Fort Bend, and Galveston counties, and it was canceled before 5 p.m.

A cold front led temperatures to plummet on Thursday.

Tornado Watch in effect for Southeast Texas until 6 p.m., NWS reports

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for much of Southeast Texas until 6 p.m., including the following counties:

Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Montgomery, Nacagdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augsitine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton.

IAH issues ground stop due to severe storms

Departures to George Bush Intercontinental Airport are grounded due to Wednesday's thunderstorms, according to airport officials.

The ground stop was issued until noon and may be extended.
