HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- More school districts are back in session, and for Klein ISD's Lemm Elementary students, it will be their first time since Hurricane Harvey hit.
The school was badly damaged in the flooding, so until it's fixed and all cleaned up, the kids are going to have to attend high school.
Renovations continue Thursday morning. There's still a lot to get done.
The school had about eight inches of water throughout their classrooms. Chairs and tables were soaked.
The library had about two feet of water inside at one point. Books had to be quickly, but carefully removed.
As the water was pumped out, computers, projectors, monitors and other technology was taken out and packed up.
The good news is that the superintendent, Dr. Bret Champion, said all of those electronic devices had no damage.
But because of the extensive water damage, the decision was made to move the elementary students to Klein Cain High School. They will have their own wing on campus, and there will be plenty of nurses, psychologists and counselors on hand.
Champion said there are about 128 teachers who have been impacted by the storm and are not back to school yet.
Meanwhile, the district has asked for waivers from Texas for all those missed days of instruction.
