KINGWOOD, TX -- Kingwood resident Nancy Edwards knows the benefits of birth mom support groups firsthand.

Edwards joined an online support group for birth moms where she has received support, encouragement and ideas from other women that have been in reunion with their adopted children longer than she has been with her son.

Throughout her journey, she has met several birth moms throughout the Kingwood and surrounding communities thus spurring Edwards' desire to start up a Birth Mom Support group that would meet locally for others looking for support and encouragement.

"My son was put up for adoption in 1970," Edwards said about her own personal story. "In March of 2011, he found me through an adoption reunion Internet site and have been in reunion, first face to face, since June of 2011. We don't get to see him as often as we would like since he lives in another state. As people in my online support group say 'reunion is not for the faint of heart.'"
