Katy allowed to continue on
The Katy Tigers will be permitted to continue their season, despite using in ineligible player last weekend.

AUSTIN, TX (KTRK) -- Katy High Schools perfect football season will continue. The UIL held an emergency meeting this morning to look into the possible rules violation.

Katy had a player who had transferred to the school during the season. Per UIL rules, players have to be at the school for 15 days before they're eligible to play. That requirement had been met by the school.

However, players who transfer during the season are not eligible to participate in the postseason.

The player in question participated in Katy's win over Friendswood. He played about 10 plays.

Katy school officials determined the player was ineligible and self-reported to the UIL. The UIL this morning decided to use their mercy rule on Katy, allowing the Tigers to continue on in the playoffs.

It's possible the UIL could have forfeited Katy's win over Friendswood, which would have ended Katy's season.

The player in question will not be allowed to play the rest of the playoffs.

Katy (13-0) plays Manvel this weekend.
