ARAN ISLANDS, Ireland -- A stunning video captured the moment that a woman was swept off of a cliff by a massive wave while on vacation in Ireland.
Aparajita Gupta was visiting Ireland's Aran Islands with her parents when a wave knocked her onto the rocks below as her parents watched helplessly from afar.
Seamus McCarthy, a paramedic visiting Ireland, rushed over to help, making a rope out of a jacket and tying it to a backpack and lowering it down.
"We were all very shaken but we just did what anyone would do in that situation. Just try to help out," McCarthy said.
"The water cushioned my fall, so when I finally fell the impact wasn't as great as it could have been and next to me, there was a boulder and I held onto it," Gupta said.
She broke her ankle, has some cuts and bruises but is otherwise OK.
Her rescuer will be awarded a medal for his bravery later this year.
