Family honors baby found dead at Missouri City day care

MISSOURI CITY, TX (KTRK) -- At least 100 people turned a pavilion in Kitty Hollow Park into a sanctuary of celebration for Sebastian Bingley III.

The two-month-old was found unresponsive at an in-home daycare on Turtle Creek Drive Tuesday and pronounced dead at the scene.

His family says they're cherishing the short time they had with the child they called Baby Bash. His grandfather, Sebastian Bingley Sr., smiled at the memory of an impromptu dinner his mom called Sunday for Bash's first Easter.

"She said, 'I'm doing all the cooking.' Thank God she came up with that bright idea because we did that on Sunday and he was here to enjoy that moment," says Sebastian Bingley Sr.

The Bingleys say they still don't know how he died. But the candlelight vigil was not about their unanswered questions.

"It's just not about us. It's two families that are impacted by this whole tragedy. If you have any compassion for us, please also pray for that family as well."

It was about a young life that was worthy of celebrating and about a family coming together to deal with a grief they never imagined would come to their front door.

His father, Sebastian Bingley II, says he doesn't have many words right now.

"I'm still just waiting on him to be at the daycare door so I can pick him up. And that's it," he said.

Relatives started a GoFundMe account to raise money for funeral expenses. The Houston community has donated more than double the original goal.

"What we would like to do is thank the community for your support," Bingley Sr. says. "We're grieving at this time. And it's a process. We're gonna get through it, but we cannot do it without you guy's help."

They marched a cross up a hill to symbolize their angel looking down from Heaven on them. This, with the words from Bash's grandfather in the back of their mind.

"Kiss your babies. Any time of the day, think about your family, kiss them in the morning. I love you, whatever it takes to let someone know you really care about them," he said.

Funeral arrangements are still pending.
