HOUSTON (KTRK) -- In the middle of July, the Houston Zoo had a snow day. On Saturday, the zoo had two fields of fake snow in which kids of all ages were creating their own snowman, making snow angels and simply enjoying a break from the summer heat.
Guests weren't the only ones that got to cool down. The zoo filled the habitat of their North American River Otter with the snow for natural enrichment.
Two ice sculptors entertained a crowed as they sent ice flying to sculpt likenesses of the zoo's animals.
The zoo also handed out free snow cones to those that completed a scavenger hunt. The participants had to visit each of the zoo's 13 indoor, air-conditioned buildings.
