Greenspoint residents pay for flood-damaged apartments
For nearly two weeks, Anna Parker has lived in a flood-damaged apartment at the Woods of Greenbriar, in the Greenspoint area, waiting on repairs.
"I have to live like this until you do what you say you're going to do," said Parker.
With kitchen appliances that don't work, no flooring and she says, mold still growing, she doesn't feel like she should have to pay full rent. That's the opinion, too, of some community activists, like Constance Luo of the Texas Organizing Project.

"The flood was out of their control and we understand that, however, the repairs being done to the apartment are taking too long and people are still expected to live in them, pay full rent, without question, which is unacceptable," said Luo.
One resident showed us a letter they say they received just today, saying they'll receive a break on the May rent and their record won't be affected if they wanted to leave. It's something, but may not make staying in these apartments each night much easier.
"It's really uncomfortable, it's really, really uncomfortable," said Parker.
