City approves projectable GPS tracker for high-speed chases
The Houston City Council has just approved new high-tech devices that some say could make police chases safer.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston City Council has just approved new high-tech devices that some say could make police chases safer.

Trackers are shot onto a suspect's vehicle during a chase. The GPS technology then allows police to track the vehicle instead of chasing it.

The council just signed off to buy 12 of the "StarChase High-Speed Pursuit Management System and GPS Tracking" for $65,000.
