Homeowner worried of METRO bus stop outside her home
A woman worries that METRO is going to build a bus stop right in her front yard

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- METRO is expanding its bus routes and stops, but not everyone is excited about it.

"They sleep at these bus stops, they tear them up," said Third Ward homeowner Rosalyn Williams. "It's too close."

It's too close for comfort.

"We've been here for over 40 years," Williams added.

And now Williams and Herbert Mitchell say their peaceful living on Cleburne Street is about to be interrupted.

"One day, we came home and saw the markings here," said Williams. "They want to put a shed and wanna use a foot of my property."

Williams says she contacted METRO and complained.

"I just don't understand why they have to put it right here in front of my house," said Williams. "Why can't they do something else? Move it over to where the stop is now."

Williams told me she finally heard back from METRO.

"He called Thursday and said no they don't want to change it," she said.

Eyewitness News took the complaints straight to METRO Chief Executive Officer Tom Lambert.

"The stop that I'm aware of this morning, it appears it's kind of in a vacant lot right next to their home. It's not right in front of the stop," said Lambert.

But this couple fears the bus shed will go up right in front of their home, METRO officials tell Eyewitness News they're willing to work it out.

"If there are concerns, we want to hear from people. If there are things we need to do to adapt the stop, we're more than happy to listen to see," said Lambert.

"I hope they will rethink this over and be concerned if it was there home and what if I want to sell my house," said Williams. "Who's gonna want to buy a house with a bus stop in front of it?"
