Luxury home clings to collapsing off a cliff at Lake Whitney

LAKE WHITNEY, TX -- A vacant luxury house appears on the verge of tumbling 75 feet into a north Texas lake because a cliff is collapsing beneath the property.

WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth reported Wednesday that the 4,000 square-foot-home above Lake Whitney has been condemned and the owners evacuated about two weeks ago.

Hill County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Mark Wilson says another chunk of cliff broke off Tuesday night.

Soil and other debris have been falling from beneath the home at White Bluff Resort, some 60 miles south of Fort Worth. Tax records show the house was built in 2007 and is worth more than $700,000.

A message left with the resort developer wasn't immediately returned Wednesday.
