HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Local activists on Tuesday lost a big round in their fight to save Jones High School.
A judge denied request by the NAACP to order HISD rehear the issue re-purposing Jones High. The judge rejected a lawsuit claiming HISD violated the Open Meetings Act.
"It's the fact that you have a certain set of professionals who came in to speak regarding a closure and they did not have adequate notice to research that which was actually put on the agenda," Houston NAACP Education Chair Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz said.
The NAACP still has a hearing May 23 over a request for a temporary injunction against HISD.
