DALLAS, TX (KTRK) -- Two women are alive and well thanks to a Dallas great-grandmother's selflessness.
She made the decision to give up her spot on the transplant list to a young woman who was hours from death.
After waiting a year for a new liver, 69-year-old Brenda Jones put herself back on the transplant list in order to save the life on 23-year-old Abigail Flores, station WFAA reports.
In July, a liver was a match for both women, but doctors said without a new liver, Flores only had a day to live.
Jones, without hesitation, gave her liver to Flores.
Jones said, "In my heart, I wouldn't have been able to live with the liver if I had let this little girl die. And I still had more time ... I would have been a very selfish person."
A few days later, Jones got a second chance at a transplant, and now both women are recovering from their surgeries.
