Americans are binge drinking more especially women. The new numbers come from a major study of alcohol use.
It shows the binge drinking rate for women rose almost 36-percent between 2002 and 2012 and increased more than seven times the rate among men. But they are binge drinking more too -- with men's rates rising 23-percent over the same time period.
Researchers didn't try to determine what might be behind the jump. Binge drinking was defined as more than five drinks for men, or more than four drinks for women, in a single sitting in the last month.
