New technology helping in the fight against diabetes

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Glucose checks, insulin shots, pumps and monitors.

It's a life Brooke Busby had no clue about until her daughter's diagnosis.

A trip to the doctor with her then almost 7-year-old daughter Lexi Conaway confirmed her biggest fear: type 1 diabetes. Then the Busby family learned of a second diagnosis with daughter Emma Grace.

Despite the struggles and heartbreak, the Busby family chooses to fight the disease and live their best life.

Seven years apart, these two sisters share more than just their love for playing UNO together. Both have learned to manage their disease using the latest technology.

See the video above for more on Elita Loresca's report on these devices that are helping people with diabetes manage the disease.
