Police: Tow truck driver hits, kills man after getting off bus

HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- A 47-year-old man is dead after authorities say he was hit by a tow truck driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Family members say Frederick Curry was getting off the Metro bus to go home around 2pm Friday when he was fatally struck. The incident happened off West Montgomery and McCrarey.

"Just getting off the bus going home lost his life," Billy Curry said. "Because a man too lazy to drive 20 feet to make a U-turn hit him, just hit him!"

The driver with Harris County Writ, no official capacity to the county, stopped and called 911. Authorities say Curry was not walking on a crosswalk.

Charges are possible against the driver.
