Deputies: 2 girls shot, killed by father in Arizona

TUCSON, AZ (KTRK) -- Deputies say an Arizona man shot and killed his two daughters and then injured himself in an attempted suicide.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office says the mother of the 5 and 7-year-old victims called 911 around 7pm Thursday night, according to KVOA-TV. When deputies arrived at their Tucson condo, it was already too late.

Officers say a single gunshot was heard in what Sheriff Chris Nanos believes was a suicide attempt by the girls' father.

The man was taken to the hospital where it is not known whether he will survive his injuries.

One of his daughters was dead when deputies made way inside the condo. A second girl was transported to the hospital where she died.
