Gator found wandering around beach in Freeport

FREEPORT, TX (KTRK) -- It's probably the last thing you'd expect to see during an outing at the beach. It's not a piece of drift wood. It's a large gator swimming in the waves.

The person who took the video says it happened at Bryan Beach in Freeport on Saturday. They kept their distance and took video of the alligator before calling authorities.

Freeport police say they've received several calls about this alligator, but every time they show up, the gator has moved farther into the water. They're hanging up temporary signs to warn swimmers.

Gators have been known to make their way out of inland waterways and into the gulf from time to time.
