Downtown Houston Fourth of July celebration a big hit
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Tens of thousands packed into Eleanor Tinsley Park Saturday for the annual Freedom Over Texas Independence Day celebration. They all came looking forward to something, whether it was Josh Hunter and Clint Black, the food, or the fireworks. And they weren't disappointed.
"It's 100 degrees out here and we're still having fun," said Camren Sumuel.
Nothing says Fourth of July in Houston like a park full of hot people dressed in red, white, and blue.
"I've got my Texas shorts on right here, my Brothers in Arms shirt right here, American bandanna and American flag right here," Ravion Moyers modeled to us.
Moyers comes to Freedom over Texas every year. He says Fourth of July is one of his favorite holidays.
"Fourth of July means everything," he told us. "For what this country is, what we stand for and everything we believe in, our constitutional rights, and everything we wake up in the morning and complete our day for."
Everybody at Eleanor Tinsley Park, from the youngest Patriots to their more mature brothers and sisters, came with celebration on their mind.
"I'm looking forward to just having a good time," said Jimmy D. Williams.
"I like the live music. I like the fireworks show. I like all the people. Everything about it," added Tisa Walker.

And the highlight was two of country music's biggest superstars.
"I'm a big Josh Turner fans and Clint Black. I grew up listening to Clint Black," said U.S. Navy veteran Kristi Jordan.
Jordan took a break from dancing to Josh Turner's opener to talk to us. She and her U.S. Army veteran husband drove down from San Antonio. She tells us this is special a special day.
"This holiday means celebrating the freedoms and the sacrifices that our men and women put their lives on the line for every day."
Security was a presence one couldn't miss at Freedom Over Texas. We're told there were no major incidents.
