BB gun attacks prompt search for suspects in Fort Bend Co.

MISSOURI CITY, TX (KTRK) -- Several BB gun attacks have been reported in Fort Bend County, with at least three people injured, the sheriff's office says.

They have been reported in Sienna Plantation for the last several days, with a group of young people in a dark-colored car firing BB guns at both people and property.

In one case, a young boy was coming home from school when he was hit with a BB, breaking his skin. One man was also hit in the leg, and a few others have been threatened with BB guns.

One family also tells Eyewitness News their vehicle was shot up with pellets. The back window of Varren Parker's car was shot outside his uncle's home. He said there are many other dents and dings, and the damage was estimated at nearly $2,000.

"It didn't even cross my mind that somebody could have shot up my car like that," Parker said.

Sandy Denton with Sienna Plantation Association said it's especially alarming with so many reported incidents over just the past few days.

"It is unusual for us to have a series of incidents like this. That's why we're concerned obviously," Denton said.

Parents in the area are concerned. Many were seen walking their students to and from school. Andrew Scott, who lives near one of the BB shooting scenes, said these crimes are changing his family's daily routine.

"One of the incidents happened right up the road here, so we're telling (our daughter) to be very careful. We're actually not letting her go out," he said.

Fort Bend County officials said the suspects are young, possibly at least one white male and one black male.

"It's not a joke," said Fort Bend County Sgt. Dalia Simons.

She said these assaults could be prosecuted as felonies carrying two to 20 year sentences.

Authorities are asking for tips from the public to help catch the perpetrators. The sheriff's announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in these cases.
