2014 State Fair of Texas finalists include more than fried food

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Texas is trying to keep its title as the fried food capital of the world.

Yesterday, the 2014 State Fair of Texas unveiled the eight finalists for this year's Big Tex Choice Awards, and there's something for everyone.

The finalists include the Chicken Fried Loaded Baked Potato, Fried Sriracha Balls, Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil, Deep Fried "Breakfast for Dinner," Deep Fried Texas Bluebonnet, Fried Sweet Texas, Twisted Texas Taco, and a Funnel Cake Ale to wash it all down.

The 2014 Big Tex Choice Awards winner will be announced on Monday, September 1, at 10am. Tickets to try the food before the fair begins are available now on the State Fair of Texas' website.
