Firefighter rescues dog stuck in icy water for hours

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Maryland (KTRK) -- A firefighter rescued a golden retriever stuck in an icy culvert for hours in Maryland Friday.

Firefighter Jesse McCullough set up a ladder and climbed down into the creek.

The dog was covered in ice and too frozen to go up the ladder, so McCullough carried him to safety.

Crews took the dog back to the fire station where they dried him off and gave him food and water.

McCullough says the dog didn't have a collar or microchip.

If the owner doesn't come forward, McCullough says he'd like to adopt him.
