PLANTERSVILLE, TX (KTRK) -- A Plantersville volunteer junior firefighter was killed in front of her friends Saturday afternoon. Another serious crash happened this afternoon at the exact spot where the firefighter was killed.

At least one person was extracted from a vehicle and transported by Life Flight to the hospital. No word on that victim's condition.

Meanwhile, many are mourning Harley Mullenix's death. The 21-year-old was inside a car with two of her friends when they were hit by a car near the Texas Renaissance Fairgrounds on FM 1774 near County Road 302. The driver was attempting to make a left turn when they were hit from behind by Chevy Tahoe.

A 17-year old was driving the Tahoe and police say he didn't appear to be intoxicated, but he never hit the brakes.

Trooper Kenneth Balzekas, of the Department of Public Safety, said, "He never hit his brakes, so something was distracting him, but at this time, we don't know what it was."

Mullenix died at the scene. Her two friends, who are also volunteer firefighters and are both pregnant, were injured along with the 17-year-old driver. They are in stable condition, according to police. One of the women broke her jaw in the crash.

The Plantersville Volunteer Fire Department posted photos and messages of Mullenix on their Facebook page.

One post reads, "I share this news with a broken heart, Plantersville-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department had to say good bye to one of our own today. Harley Mullenix lost her life in a vehicle accident to which our department responded to. She was and is loved by everyone. She will be truly missed and was a great firefighter and person."

Her friends and family have been posting messages paying tribute to her life.

One wrote, "She will be in our hearts forever. ...I feel so much better knowing she's up there looking out for all of our Plantersville firefighters...love u to the moon and back Harley Mullenix."
