'Finding Dory' rumored to feature Disney Pixar's first lesbian couple

A three-second clip in the trailer for "Finding Dory," may feature Disney Pixar's first on-screen lesbian couple.

The clip features a brief scene where a toddler drops her sippy cup after being knocked over by a baby stroller. One of the two women walking by picks up the cup and says, "Poor baby, let me get that for you."

The clip is extremely quick and it's quite possible the two women are just standing next to each other or could possibly be friends. However, that didn't stop people on social media from speculating the two women might also be a lesbian couple.

The main character in the film, "Dory" is voiced by Ellen DeGeneres. DeGeneres came out in 1997 and some people think that might have played a role in the rumors surrounding the women featured in the clip.

The "Finding Dory" speculation comes on the heels of a series of social media campaigns to feature more LGBT characters in Disney movies. Earlier this month, the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend started to trend on Twitter when some fans urged Disney to make Elsa a lesbian princess.

Disney, which is our parent company, has neither confirmed nor denied rumors surrounding the couple.
