HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Homicide investigators are holding out hope that a surveillance camera captured the person responsible for killing a man at a southwest Houston apartment complex overnight.

Police were called around 9pm after shots were fired at the complex on Greenfork Drive and Stone Creek Lane, near the Sam Houston Tollway.

Officers found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to the chest in the back of the apartment complex.

The victim died at a hospital after being taken by ambulance.

HPD homicide investigators say there may be video of a suspect. Police are seeking a young Hispanic male, around 19 or 20 years old. He was last seen wearing a horizontal-striped polo shirt with tan khaki shorts and athletic shoes.

So far, officers aren't sure why the man was shot.

Again, police say the video is the only possible witness in the case.

HPD said it plans on returning to the apartment complex later this morning to interview neighbors, hoping to get more clues in this deadly shooting.
