Ryan Aprea was born three and a half months premature and spent the first seven months of his life in a hospital. By the time he finally got to go home, he was diagnosed as profoundly deaf.

More than a year later, Ryan received a cochlear implant, and he's now able to hear. The sweet moment when Ryan first heard his mom's voice was captured in a video that is going viral.

Ryan's mom, Jennifer Aprea from California, uploaded the video through her cloth diaper cleaner company, Spray Pal. According to the company's website, the proceeds go toward Ryan's medical bills.

According to the company's Facebook page, the family tried hearing aids on Ryan but they didn't work. His mom told Storyful that Ryan was an ideal candidate for the cochlear implant, so they got the procedure as soon as possible.
