HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES -- "Selma" star David Oyelowo first met Oprah Winfrey on the cast of "The Butler." He told her his dreams of playing Martin Luther King, Jr. and she told him she would help.
Winfrey jumped on board as a producer and ultimately became like a "mother" to the actor.
"I wouldn't be standing with you if it wasn't for her. She's the reason 'Selma' got made," Oyelowo said.
