Boy accidentally shoots himself in the neck in E. Houston
Police say a boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after playing with a gun

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An 11-year-old previously believed to be dead is now in critical condition after he accidentally shot himself in the neck, Houston police say.



The shooting happened around 9:25pm Sunday at a home on De Haven near Fidelity in east Houston.



HPD says the boy was playing with a gun when it accidentally went off.



The child was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.



His identity is not yet known.



Investigators say no charges have been filed at this time. HPD is continuing to investigate the incident.
