HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Here's your warning from law enforcement across southeast Texas. It may be summer fun, it may be vacation but they will be unforgiving when it comes to either driving or boating under the influence.

Local and state agencies teamed up Thursday morning to deliver the strong message. For the next two weeks, especially with Independence Day around the corner, they will be out in full force on water and on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration labels the summer months, May to August, the 100 deadliest days of the year. Constables, officers, and deputies stressed these are crimes that can be prevented with simple planning.

"What happens is boaters become drunk drivers. Someone who is boating intoxicated in Montgomery County becomes a drunk driver in Brazos, Harris or Fort Bend County," said Warren Diepraam with the District Attorney's Office.
