Pup's paintings: Dog gaining reputation as artist

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Just call him "Dog-vinci." One New York pup is getting a bit of a reputation as an artist.

Dagger, three-year-old black lab, originally planned to be a helper dog for those with disabilities. But his fear of stairs disqualified him. Then his human, who's also an artist, discovered he had a love of painting."

"He was so excited to see the brushstroke on that canvas. It was almost as if his whole world had opened up," Yvonne Dagger said.

Dagger paints by following his human's commands, and uses a brush made of duct tape and a paper town tube that he holds in his mouth.

And how popular are his paintings?

They generally sell for between $50 and $100 per canvas, with all proceeds going to animal-related charities.
