NEW YORK -- Rapper DMX was allowed to listen to his own song in court Wednesday, before a judge sentenced him to a year in prison for tax fraud.

DMX had requested to hear his song "Slippin" and the judge agreed.

The 47-year-old, whose real name is Earl Simmons, owes more than $2 million in taxes.

He told the court that he knows taxes need to be paid and that what he did was wrong.
