DAYTON, TX -- Dayton resident Cody Joe Tillman has music in his blood. He recalls watching his father play guitar on the couch. He also remembers traveling along with the tour of his cousin's band, which enjoyed some popularity when Tillman was younger.[br /][br /]Now, he looks forward to passing his musical legacy on to his own daughter, as well as to the listeners he accumulates following the release of his self-titled debut album.[br /][br /]"I just remember traveling around and getting to see the shows," said 31-year-old Tillman. "I think that the experience really helped shape me as a musician."[br /][br /]Tillman also credits many musical greats as inspirations, including The Doors front man Jim Morrison and major 90's grunge rock players such as Chris Cornell and the late Layne Staley of Seattle-based band Alice in Chains.[br /][br /]" TARGET="" REL=""]Read more from the Cleveland Advocate, a Houston Community Newspaper partner[br /][br /][br /]
