CYPRESS, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities continue to investigate a crime scene that left two dead in northwest Harris County. Family and friends tell Eyewitness News that one of the deceased is 17-year-old Tyler Wade, a senior at Tomball Memorial High School.
According to investigators, an armed teen suspect went to the home in the 18600 block of Oden Trace in Cypress. Once inside, the suspect went upstairs searching for Wade.
The victim's sister tried to get the suspect to leave, but he wouldn't. The suspect made his way upstairs and began attacking Wade with a knife, fatally stabbing him.
Deputies say the teen's sister heard commotion and ran next door for help.
Authorities say when the neighbor arrived inside the home, he found the suspect with blood on him. As the suspect approached the neighbor with a knife, the neighbor opened fire with his gun. Deputies believe the one shot fired from the neighbor's gun killed the suspect.
The neighbor and his wife called 911. There are no signs of forced entry of the home.
Classmates and football teammates showed up to the scene, many of them in tears.
Grief counselors will be on hand Tuesday at Tomball Memorial High School. A vigil is planned for Tuesday at 7pm.
The suspect has not been identified at this point. A motive is still unknown.
