Craig Biggio delivers Hall of Fame address

COOPERSTOWN, NY (KTRK) -- Craig Biggio has been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.[br /][br /]The multitalented native of Smithtown, New York on Long Island was enshrined on Sunday, becoming the first Houston Astro to make the Hall of Fame.[br /][Ads /][br /]"I gave the game everything I had, every day," Biggio said during his speech. "In baseball, tomorrow is not guaranteed and I tried to play every game as if it was going to be my last. I want to thank the game for everything. The game has given me everything -- my family, my friends, respect but most of all, memories of a lifetime. Thank you very, very much from the bottom of my heart."[br /][br /]The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Biggio earned All-Star honors as both a catcher and second baseman in 20 years with the Astros. He is the only player in major league history with at least 3,000 hits, 600 doubles, 400 stolen bases and 250 home runs.[br /][br /][post ID="884553" /][br /][br /]Biggio scored 1,844 runs, 15th on the career list, slammed 291 home runs, and stole 414 bases. He also was hit by a pitch 285 times, second all-time, and played both center and left field. Their passion was something Astros star mentioned in his speech.[br /][br /]"You guys are the greatest fans in the world man, I love you guys," said Biggio. "I want to thank you for the way you treated my family and I hope that I earned your respect by the way that I played the game and I never took that for granted.
